Combatting Stigma around Mental Health

16th October 2019 : 18:45 - 20:30

Nottingham Citizens’ Combating Stigma around Mental Ill-Health: supporting our friends, family and colleagues.

Background: Nine out of ten people with mental health challenges say that stigma and discrimination have a negative impact on them seeking help and understanding. Nottingham Citizens want to see this unnecessary additional burden disappear. This means challenging negative stereotypes, prejudice, discrimination and shame.

About the evening: together we will explore our concerns and how we plan to work together to reduce stigma and discrimination in our city. It will unpack details of a new mental health awareness-level session we are co-producing in partnership with Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, to be delivered in organisations across the city by people from within those organisations.
